Victaulic Engineering Confidence into Every Build
At the core of all the benefits that Victaulic solutions bring to a project — such as productivity, safety, design flexibility and quality — are the unique features of our products.
How does it work?
The groove is made by cold forming or machining a groove into the end of a pipe. A gasket encompassed by the coupling housing is wrapped around the two grooved pipe ends, and the key sections of the coupling housing engage the grooves. The bolts and nuts are tightened with a socket wrench or impact wrench.
Types of grooved joints
Piping systems with Victaulic grooved products feature a 40 – 60 percent reduction in installation man-hours over alternative joining methods, and leverage a worker skill base that can be quickly trained and globally available, greatly reducing the potential for schedule delays.
Innovations, like Victaulic patented Installation-Ready™ Technology, make joining twice as fast as standard grooved joints, and Victaulic catalog Pump Drops and Headers take speed of deployment to the next level.
Problem: Confined spaces
Solution: Grooved couplings have a smaller product profile than flanged components. Couplings can be rotated 360 degrees to ease installation.
Why is this important?
Flanges are considerably larger than grooved mechanical couplings. This makes installation and maintenance much harder in tight spaces.
Problem: Schedule overruns
Solution: With far fewer bolts and nuts than a flanged joint, installation time can be dramatically reduced.
Why is this important?
Victaulic installs faster and reduces down time during retro fits and repairs, saving you money on labor and resource costs. Victaulic couplings ship with the appropriate nuts, bolts and gaskets, simplifying ordering and part location on a jobsite.
Problem: Heavy system components
Solution: Lighter weight mechanical pipe-joining technique
Why is this important?
Flanged systems are nearly double the weight of grooved solutions. This not only makes installation more difficult and time consuming but adds a significant amount of weight to hanging requirements and supports.
Victaulic offers joining and flow control solutions for any piping material used on your project. And all of our product lines offer the same advantages that Victaulic is known for — they are fast, easy to deploy, adaptable, scalable, maintainable and safe.
Victaulic offers systems for both HVAC and fire protection applications. Both systems include a full line of grooved couplings, fittings, valves and accessories, as well as a line of tools for roll grooving.
Victaulic’s grooved solutions for carbon steel pipe include Victaulic’s propriety Installation-Ready™ couplings for even faster and easier installations on 2″ – 12″ | DN50 – DN300 pipe and Victaulic’s patented large diameter solutions, the Advanced Grooved System (AGS™) for 14″ – 60″ | DN350 – DN1525 pipe.
The Victaulic grooved copper system features a full line of couplings, fittings and valves, as well as a line of tools for roll grooving. The Victaulic grooved copper system is cold-formed, eliminating the need for soldering or brazing.
In addition to offering Installation Ready™ couplings for joining copper tube, Victaulic is pleased to offer Installation-Ready™ fittings for joining copper tube.
Victaulic also offers galvanized grooved joining products for joining galvanized carbon steel pipe. Victaulic’s galvanized products are ideal for use in corrosive environments such as roof drain systems.
Many of Victaulic’s ductile iron products can be supplied as galvanized. Contact Victaulic for details.
For an alternative to copper, choose Victaulic grooved couplings, valves and fittings made of, or designed for use on, Type 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steel pipe.
The revolutionary Vic-Press™ System for Schedule 10S provides quick, easy and safe installation and maintenance. The Vic-Press™ System is UL Classified in accordance with ANSI/NSF 61 for cold +73°F | +23°C and hot +180°F | +82°C potable water service and ANSI/NSF 372 when utilizing a Victaulic Grade “E” or “H” seal. A Victaulic Grade “O” seal is also available.
Victaulic offers a complete line of mechanical products for joining HDPE known as the System Solution for HDPE Pipe. The system is designed for above ground or buried applications, such as underground water supply.
The System Solution for HDPE Pipe:
The System Solution for HDPE Pipe line can be installed on plain-end or grooved-end HDPE, depending on size. The plain-end offering joins HDPE in sizes up to 8″ | DN200, while the grooved-end offering joins HDPE in sizes up to 36″ | DN900.
Look inside many of the world’s most recognizable landmarks and industrial facilities, and you will find Victaulic solutions at work making bold innovations possible. From the tallest buildings to the deepest mines, customers trust our products to increase overall system durability in the most demanding construction projects and operating conditions.
From concept to commissioning, Victaulic provides innovative piping products and design services that helps engineer confidence into every build.
The Victaulic® grooved piping system is the most versatile, economical, and reliable piping system available. Up to three times faster to install than a welded system, and more dependable than a threaded or flanged assembly, the Victaulic approach reduces risk and total installed cost. The system is designed for roll grooved or cut grooved standard pipe or roll grooved light wall pipe. Also, pipe end preparation is fast and easy. It can be done on the job site or in the shop with a variety of Victaulic grooving tools.
With the introduction of Victaulic Installation-Ready™ technology, the original groove system has evolved to a new level. Grooved couplings featuring this patented Victaulic technology install ten times faster than other pipe joining methods. Why is it different? Prior to Victaulic Installation-Ready technology, grooved coupling assembly consisted of disassembling the coupling by removing the bolts and nuts, removing the gasket, fitting the gasket over the gap between two grooved pipe ends, positioning the housings around the gasket, and tightening down the bolts and nuts. Couplings featuring Installation-Ready technology come pre-assembled and are simply pushed onto a grooved pipe end, joined by a second grooved pipe end, and then the bolts and nuts are tightened down. What previously required minutes, now takes only seconds.
Committed to innovation, Victaulic® FireLock™ Installation-Ready™ fittings and FireLock™ IGS™ for small diameter (1-inch) applications continue the tradition of enhancing ease and speed of installation. Rendering threaded connections obsolete, Victaulic mechanical joining solutions ensure complete system confidence and increase jobsite safety.

Victaulic® developed the hole cut piping system concept to enable a fast and easy mid-pipe outlet solution that would not require welding. The system allows for a direct branch connection at any location where a hole can be cut in the pipe. Gaskets are molded to conform to the outer diameter of the pipe and are pressure responsive to provide a seal.
